Camping
Heater
5 Things
you have to remember when installing a catalytic heater in your
RV
If you are a fan of RV camping during the cold season, you might
have encountered problems with running down the battery low really
fast. This is due to the fact that your RV’s furnace consumes a
lot of energy. One of the most popular remedy for this is switching
to outdoor camping
water heater . It is the campers’ number one choice because
it doesn’t use a fan to blow off the heat which usually takes up
a lot of energy. It provides comfort for the campers while on the
road without worrying about running the battery flat.
But before you get too excited, there are a few things that you
need to know when using this kind of heater.
1. Install the heater properly and make sure that it is secured
to avoid leakages. Don’t take anything for granted while you are
installing it and double check everything. There is always a tendency
to overlook a particular process when setting it up. See to it that
all the safeguards of the catalytic
heater are working as well. You wouldn’t want to get near the
hot surface, right?
2. Position it in a corner where it won’t be tipped over. You have
to carefully consider where you will place the camping
heater. Don’t place it in a space where people usually pass.
And make sure that everyone who is going to use the room or the
RV knows where the heater is installed. And although it doesn’t
have live flames, it is still run by fuel and you have to be careful
with that.
3. Keep all flammable objects away from it. There are a lot of things
in a room or in your RV that can easily catch fire like carpet,
draping and seat cover. Make sure that it is nowhere near the catalytic
heater. No combustible object should be near it as it may ignite
fire and could lead to a tragic RV vacation.
4. Always provide ventilation, like opening a window when the heater
is on to prevent carbon monoxide poisoning. Be mindful of any signs
that the area has low oxygen level as well. And if there is someone
in the area that feels that he is poisoned by carbon monoxide, open
more windows and bring the person out of the room.
5. Don’t leave the catalytic heater unattended; much so, don’t leave
it on when you sleep. Keep in mind that it can be a threat to your
safety if it is not monitored from time to time. Another reason
why you should not leave it on when you sleep is because of the
threat in item number 4. The symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning
are not that visible and it may take hours before a person feels
dizzy.
Catalytic heater is a convenient way of heating your recreational
vehicle while camping on the different tourist spots around the
world. When used properly, it will provide the comfort that campers
need during their getaway. If you are considering installing one
in your RV, make sure that you take precautionary measures.
